It was only in college, where speaking out against injustice and oppression was actually supported, did I really get a true taste of how good it feels to proudly and openly wear my ACTIVIST label.
At Generación Latina, Inc. we constantly strive to turn Latino youth into activists before they become adults. We do this by creating safe spaces where discussions about their struggles as Latino youth can take place without judgment or fear- which we all know there is plenty of here in Georgia.
It is our hope that the sooner Latino youth are encouraged to demand justice for themselves and their community, the sooner we will see true change for the better, and healthier, stronger Latino communities across this great nation. What better place to start then connecting teens to the efforts of Georgia’s “Dream Activists?”
Education, like food, water, health care, and safety, is a human right. However, it is also being denied to Latino and immigrant teens in this country for circumstances that are completely out of their control.
Giving back to America’s Latino youth doesn’t mean you have to become as outspoken as GLINC is about how amazing they are (although that is cool too!). Giving back can be something as easy as clicking on the picture above and signing an on-line petition, asserting that Georgia's Latino youth should receive the same education that is available to other youth in this country. Don’t wait until tomorrow- your journey as an activist starts today!
